Wordplay is a literary technique in which words used become the main subject of the work. Authors use wordplay to give a hidden meaning to something. There are many different kinds of wordplay. There's diction, syntax, personification, alliteration, assonance, puns, and satire. Many authors use wordplay because it is humorous.

Authors use wordplay to give a hidden meaning. They can insult someone or something without actually coming out and saying it. One example of word play would be The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which is an example of satire. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain took aim squarely against racial prejudice
. He used satire throughout the whole book. The story changed from being a regular novel to being a great piece of American literature. In addition to that, Lewis Carroll also used plenty of wordplay in his story, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Sometimes, the wordplay was confusing and hard to notice, but I thought it was funny and creative when I found it. For example, during chapter two, after Alice has seen the Rabbit again in the tunnel, she starts to notice how “queer” the day is going and wonders if she is still herself. She tests herself by trying to recite a poem. The styles of wordplay used in this poem include assonance and repetition. I think Carroll placed this quote here to try to make the situation that Alice was in a little more humorous. Another example of wordplay in this story occurs in chapter ten when Alice is ordered by the Gryphon to repeat a certain poem called, 'Tis the Voice of the Sluggard. The types of wordplay featured here are personification, pun, and assonance. Once again, I think Lewis Carroll used this poem here to make the situation a little funnier and keep the situation interesting so the story doesn't get boring.

In conclusion, many authors use wordplay in their writing. It makes the work more interesting and makes you think about what you are reading. If it's me or you, wordplay can make the story funny and interesting. Without wordplay, many authors wouldn't be able to express their ideas'. It is a very vital part of writing and can give different meanings to all different people.
